Airport Review: Oroville Municipal Airport (KOVE)

Oroville Municipal Airport (KOVE) is a quiet, almost ghost-town-like GA stop tucked just south of Lake Oroville. It offers great pavement, self-serve fuel, and a low-stress operating environment — making it more of a utility stop than a full-service destination, but with a surprising hidden perk for those who know where to look.

Airport Overview

KOVE sits at approximately 190 ft MSL, surrounded by open flat terrain and foothills rising to the east. The airfield includes two asphalt runways, both in good condition:

  • Runway 02/20 – 6,020 ft × 100 ft Asphalt

  • Runway 13/31 – 3,540 ft × 100 ft Asphalt

Both runways include lighting and PAPI systems, giving you reliable visual guidance during low-light arrivals.

Airport Review: Livermore Municipal Airport (KLVK)

Bay Breeze Aviation Airport Series

Livermore Municipal Airport (KLVK) is my home base and one of the most pilot-friendly GA airports in the Bay Area. With two parallel runways, a modern layout, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s a great stop whether you’re flying through or based locally.

Airport Overview

KLVK sits at 400 feet MSL in the Tri-Valley, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. The airport features:

  • Runway 7L/25R – 5,253 ft

  • Runway 7R/25L – 2,699 ft (training runway)

Good Aeronautical Decision Making: Why It Matters More Than Ever

Over the last few weeks, the general aviation community has seen far too many accidents — some fatal, some narrowly avoided — and all of them tragic reminders of how quickly things can go wrong in the air. As pilots, we tend to analyze accidents to learn what happened, but it’s equally important to reflect on our own habits and decision-making before we ever leave the ground.

Flying Smart: Not Just Flying Well

We all love flying — the challenge, the freedom, and the view from above that few people ever get to experience. But the reality is that flying safely takes more than just stick-and-rudder skill. It takes judgment. It takes discipline. And most importantly, it takes the willingness to say “not today” when something doesn’t feel right.

Good Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) isn’t about making the right decision every time — it’s about making the safe one, even…

C80: New Coalinga Municipal Airport

Quick Stop at New Coalinga (C80) – Another One Checked Off the List!

Hey everyone!

I made a quick hop over to New Coalinga Municipal Airport (C80) recently as part of my ongoing goal to visit every public-use airport in California. I didn’t film this one for the Bay Breeze Aviation channel, but I wanted to drop a few notes in case anyone’s looking for a quiet Central Valley stopover.

🛬 Arrival Notes

I landed Runway 30—winds were calm and the long 5000’ runway made for an easy arrival in my Mooney M20E. The field is open, flat, and easy to spot from a distance. The PAPI for RWY 30 is listed as OTS, but the REILs and MIRLs are supposed to be operational.
